Schatz Ship's Bell Clock
The first implemetation of the "Ship's Bells" watchkeeping system - long before
clocks - was a man, a sandglass and a bell! To fall asleep at this post was
a serious offence, as it could throw the entire ship out of synch. When clocks
became reliable, and a clever inventor linked one to a separate bell, the whole
process was thus automated and vastly improved. In this spirit, we have linked
a 5" diameter brass bell to a Schatz Royal Ocean clock mounted together on a
mahogany-finish board in a wonderful display of nautical tradition to make stunning
nautical gift ! |
